How We Can Save You Money – Part 3

Our clients enjoyed one more money-saving advantage for partnering with Harshman Travel as their Professional Travel Advisor.  This advantage was available because we had already secured contracted bookings for four cruises scheduled in 2019 and 2020.

When clients purchase Cruise Next vouchers while on an NCL cruise, the vouchers are good for up to four years.  Clients do not need to commit to a specific future cruise when they purchase the vouchers. As previously stated, they are also totally transferable without any fees.

You Have Options

However, if a client chooses a specific cruise to which they will be applying the Cruise Next voucher, they are eligible for an additional money-saving award.  NCL allows a client to make a booking for a specific future cruise while they are still onboard. When they do, clients book a specific stateroom category and are charged the price of the lowest class within that category.  However, the client is automatically upgraded, at no additional cost, to the highest class within that same category.

Because Harshman Travel had already secured four future cruise contracts, clients were able to specify a specific cruise they wanted to book.  The booking was made and the price was fixed at the lowest class within that category. The booking was then automatically upgraded to the highest class within the category at no extra charge to the client.

When our client booked a balcony stateroom for one of our upcoming cruises, they were charged for the lowest class of balcony on that cruise.  However, they were automatically upgraded to the highest class of balcony available but at no extra charge.

Once the booking was made onboard, we were able to transfer the individual booking into our group inventory.  As a result, the client will receive all the amenity benefits contained within our group contract.

Let’s attach actual dollar figures to the scenario that we have discussed.  We can calculate the actual savings that were realized by our clients.

The Savings Add Up

Firstly, clients saved approximately $400 per person on their cruise fare because we contracted our group space over a year in advance.  Secondly, our clients who purchased the Cruise Next vouchers saved 50% of the value of the deposits they bought. Each of our couples purchased a total of eight vouchers.  They received $2000 worth of deposits for an actual cost outlay of $1000 – a savings of $1000. Thirdly, they utilized two of their vouchers to book staterooms on one of our contracted group sailings.  By specifying their future cruise, they were booked at the lowest rate for that category. They were automatically upgraded to the highest rate stateroom in that category. The difference in cost between the lowest class and the highest class in the same category averaged around $300 per stateroom.
