European Christmas Markets River Cruise on the Rhine River

Our Christmas markets river cruise had us leaving on December 4, 2017.  We flew to Zurich, Switzerland for two days before spending another two days in Lucerne, Switzerland.  We did a lot of site seeing and visited every Christmas market we could.  On the fifth day, we were transferred to Basel, Switzerland, where we boarded our ship, the AmaSonata.  They had the ship decorated beautifully for Christmas with all of the festive trimmings.  Our seven night cruise took us to various ports of call in four countries along the Rhine River.  

At each of the ports of call, we took advantage of every shore excursion opportunity we could.  Needless to say, we fully enjoyed visiting some of the fantastic historical sites and numerous Christmas markets.  Our enjoyment didn’t stop there!  Feasting on the ship’s gourmet cuisine was a real treat.  Overall, our trip was fantastic and made the holidays extra special this year.
